Alex Harris is a great example of what kinds of enriching experiences opportunities in sustainability can provide.  As a member of ASUA’s Compost Cats since his sophomore year, Alex helped design and implement the business plan responsible for Compost Cats’ success and expansion beyond the UA.  During his junior year he became a Green Fund Committee member, actively promoting and funding student- and employee-led projects that promote a more sustainable UA while generating innovation.  Additionally, Alex conducts research for Dr. Paul Blowers on life cycle assessment of biodiesel production from algae, and has traveled to Germany to conduct research on innovative separation techniques for silicon that reduce waste streams in the solar wafer industries.  Alex will graduate in May with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Residence Life EcoReps

Eco-Reps are at the heart of the Residence Life Sustainability Program. They are volunteers from each residence hall who first learn about sustainable issues, then assist in educating others about sustainability. The Eco-Reps have myriad responsibilities throughout the year, including helping with Earth Day events, Recycle Mania, Battle of the Utilities, and more.  If you live on campus and want to make a difference, this is a great program for you!
